ladys who picnic

I think finding the perfect place to picnic is the best part of Spring & Summer. And this momma burd & baby Bea (who is 15 months old!!!) have found two perfect places to alternate from and bring family to too when they visit!

A couple weeks ago we enjoyed a momma & baby Bea picnic at our local library/ park after a Story -Time session held by the librarian. We collected a few books, threw out a colorful tapestry put together a plate of Cheerios and yogurt melts, a "baba" of juice and enjoyed some rays. (through sunscreen of course!) We were right next to the swings (which of course my little burdie loves) at the playground and another mother and her little girl even came over to meet us and chat a little while - it was so nice. We were there for most of the day and even took a relaxing stroll where Bea fell asleep and I sat and read for a couple of hours.. and burned the heck out of the back of my neck! eeek.   (video below!)

Wednesday while our California family are visiting Bea & I took them all on a LBurg tour! We again had a picnic at a gorgeous historical sight only minutes from our house. Walked through the gorgeous gardens and enjoyed some treats by the gorgeous magnolia trees! We went to the local play ground and also toured through the little shops in town. These are a few of my favorite things to do, picnic, play with Bea in the sun and be around family...

Bea's silly new laugh...

Hello Bea followers and those just stopping by...

BEA IS 15 MONTHS OLD TODAY!!! Just so ya know...

Bea and I are overjoyed it is SPRING!!!  Now that the sun has been shining its beautiful rays in our lives - we have been out and active!!! My wonderful hubby and I even got Bea her own new chariot (Schwinn bike trailer) as seen in the photo below, she loved it so much she snoozed most of the 6 mile trip on the W& OD trail (awesome trail that goes through a most of Northern VA).  We stopped by a local deli on the way back and enjoyed some iced tea and fruit for lunch. I love little family outings like this :-) Next time Ellie (Bea's trusty four legged furry companion) is definitely coming with, she actually loves running along side my beach cruiser  and its great exercise for her too!

On an especially windy day off last week Bea & I met up with a friend and her beautiful girls for a tennis court play date! Bea and her little friend enjoyed riffling through Bea's Easter basket she had received that day from my great friend LJ, they played with play dough, books and cute cute little scuba bath toys. Bea and her friend ran around the court, gabbing baby talk and marveling at the airplanes that fly overhead from our local airport. The pictures as seen below turned out sooo darn cute. Cant wait for another play date (rain rain go away little Bea wants to play!!!)

We have lots of family in town right now staying at my dads, so Bea has enjoyed a ton of attention and already a Gettysburg trip with her daddy. We ventured on over to Baltimore for a rainy day trip to the Port Authority, where my littlest sister, cousins and Bea enjoyed romping around in a gigantic jungle gym and their new toddler room. Bea found a Bee that she especially liked, it was very cute it s buzzed when she touched it.  We will be celebrating my littlest sisters birthday on the 22nd and have a bunny filled Easter weekend celebration with lots of egg hunting and snuggles with Bea!!! Happy Spring Week Everyone!!!    ps i will add pic's of our family visit and Easter very shortly!

love love love, momma burd.

Hello! Its been a while...

I-ma bad momma... I know it’s been too long since you all have had an update on our sweet Bea.
So here are some updates...
  • Bea now has 6 teeth, 4 up front center on top and two front-center on bottom. Our girl also loves to brush! OOO's and AAAH's when I get her tooth brush ready then we sing a little song to make sure the job is done right ;-)
  • She is steadily progressing with walking, especially when she is holding mine or my hubbys hands, she loves to be out venturing on her own, but her "invisible leash" (the point where she is too far and turns around to see where momma or daddy are) is only about two - three feet (which will grow I'm sure  ;-(.
  • Bea's Tia Burdie came to visit for a weekend and we took her on her very first Zoo trip. We made it oh so special and went to the National Zoo in DC on a perfect, not too hot not too cool, Monday. We drove all the way through instead of dealing with the Metro and parked near the petting zoo, where Bea saw her first live COW!!!!!! She has such a funny way of showing her excitement stretching her little face back and going "eeeeeeeeee" this time when she saw the "MooMoo cow" she said "moooooooooooooooooooooooo"   TOO CUTE!!! We saw beautiful lions with 6 baby cubs and 2 regal lionesses and took tons of great pictures that as soon as I can I will post!
  • Tia also brought with her a posh little rain coat from Tia, Lola & Auntie Tye Tye. Its pink with bows all over it and just screams Bea! (Picture below!)
  • The following weekend to Tia's trip, Lola came to visit and we ventured our hinies back to DC to do a museum tour!!! (my personal fav. thing to do!!!) We enjoyed an awesome brunch at L’Enfant hotel where Bea tried and is now obsessed with smoked salmon (my girl has expensive taste - they don’t call her "Diva" at school for nothin!) We went over to "The Castle" Smithsonian museum and fell in love with an East Asian Buddhism exhibit, with gorgeous statues and replicas of Buddha and Bodhisattvas. Lola knows such a great deal about that beautiful way of life and I look forward to her passing her knowledge on to our little Bea. We also toured the Museum of Natural History and Bea went wild with all of the animals she saw, especially the giant elephant and brown bear! It was a lovely adventure through our beautiful capitol and I look forward to many more trips!
  • On Sunday during Lola's trip we went to Tyson’s Corner mall and shopped around of course finding beautiful things that Bea absolutely needed and.... wait for it..... BEA GOT HER EARS PIERCED!!! Little cz studs in those little ears. She was such a brave little burd and now has a little sparkle in her step!
  • Now that we are officially in the midst of spring (though it doesn’t feel like it yet, ahhhemmm weather!) We are looking forward to an Easter visit from our California family! Aunt Vickie, Uncle Tony & their little chickens along with Nana & Grandpa are coming out to visit for a little while, staying with Poppi & Yaya. And they get to meet our Bea for the first time!!! We are way excited to not only enjoy Easter with them but also to Celebrate Auntie Riah's Birthday!!!

P.S. I solemnly vow to update this blog more often and post more pictures when I have developed them from my camera. I momma Burd solemnly vow. ;-)
